Hi everyone,
It has been one of the craziest Decembers ever. It’s taken most of the month for me to find time to sit down and write a newsletter. I hope that everyone has been able to avoid the craziness of the holiday season and just enjoy time with friends & family.
Debbie’s recovery is going well, she is finally off crutches and getting around pretty well, but still taking it a bit easy. And that’s been good, because Neon Husky has had a very busy month worth of shipping. It’s wonderful to get our housekeeping back to being a team effort.
There’s nothing much happening now, but several things are planned for January including (finally) getting started on the “In The Studio” video series. There’s been quite a delay in getting the segment I did on “Rose City Gumbo” uploaded to the net, but I am hoping that will be available within the next week or so. January will also feature a new round of photos as I produce updated & expanded promotional materials.
With any luck at all, things will settle down a little bit and I can get back to working on new material. Lately I have been working on some Christmas songs, and while they’re only relevant for a short time each year, they’re pretty much a necessity for working holiday parties. I will continue developing them with the possibility of doing my own Christmas album in the future.
I’ve been playing a number of private gigs lately. They’re a lot of fun, but they tend not to show up in the public calendar–so it only seems like I’m being a slacker when in fact I’m actually working. But spring will be here before we know it, and that means farmer’s markets and other public events.
The Make Music PDX show is no longer upcoming because we played it last week, but all went very well. There were several last-minute changes which, while being somewhat stressful for the band, offered the chance to learn some awesome lessons. And besides all that, we sounded pretty darn good for only a few weeks’ worth of rehearsal.

The Beginning Guitar Workshop continues on the first Thursday of each month, and on January 12th I’ll be teaching “Dial M For Modes,” a workshop for more advanced musicians. With Debbie being more mobile and the holidays being over there will be more classes coming up, including a multi-part songwriting workshop.
I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who has allowed me to help them learn about music. My private students and group classes have brought me a lot of joy and helped me to become a better teacher and a better musician.
Happy holidays to all!
Until next time, walk gently & keep listening…
